Applications are now officially open for the Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Electrical Engineering (Apprenticeship) Level 7 Programme. This is a real opportunity for qualified electricians that wish to upskill and acquire advanced knowledge to enable a move into an engineering role in Industry. The course is a 2 year employer-led apprenticeship with 70% of the learners time spent on the job.
Locations;
Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (formerly Limerick Institute of Technology) – Moylish Campus (two 15 week blocks spent at the TUS).
Technological University Dublin – Tallaght Campus (1 day per week).
Employer Grants;
Effective from January 2022, an annual base grant will be paid to employers that employ apprentices in one of the 37 apprenticeships which have been established since 2016. The grant will be paid for each eligible registered apprentice during their employment with a company.
What are the benefits for your organisation?
· The blend of full time and work based modules means that your apprentice can remain working in their current role for the duration of the 24-month apprenticeship contract.
· An apprentice will be assigned an academic supervisor from TUS/TUDT and at all stages of the 24 month programme will have the support of the academic staff and services of the Institute.
· The work based projects which are undertaken during the apprenticeship are intended to deliver significant value to your company.
Minimum entry requirements;
This programme is primarily designed as a progression pathway for qualified Electricians, the minimum entry requirements are outlined below:
a. Holder of the Advanced Certificate (Level 6) in Craft (Electrical)
b. Holder of the Advanced Certificate (Level 6) in Craft (Electrical/Instrumentation) or Craft (Refrigeration)
c. Holder of the TUS Midwest Higher Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 6), or a cognate Level 6 Electrical Certificate, with relevant industrial electrical Experience
d. Registered Electrician with qualifications (National Craft Certificate / Senior Trades) other than in (a) or (b) above, can apply for access through the TUS Midwest recognition of prior learning process
e. Candidates with other technical /electrical qualifications equivalent to the TUS Midwest Level 6 Certificate in Electrical Technology and relevant industrial electrical experience can apply for access through the TUS Midwest recognition of prior learning process
